Hey everyone! Recently, I ran a mini campaign using the Mass Effect version of the FATE system and we had an absolute blast. I’m wondering if there are similar rules available for modern or fantasy settings that offer a bit more structure. I’m looking for something that has predefined options or abilities, similar to what we enjoyed in Mass Effect. Any suggestions?

Modern and fantasy can mean so many things; can you clarify what specific elements you’re looking for? A solid option for a martial arts fantasy is Tianxia – Blood, Silk, and Jade, which also has some magical elements.
Though it’s not FATE, Daggerheart could potentially fit your needs. It has a narrative focus like FATE, with some predefined powers. Check out their free SRD to see if it matches your style.
I’ve looked into Daggerheart, but I’m concerned about their Community License. I’m not sure I want to support them until the policies change, though.
Fate Core is a solid choice; it’s pretty comprehensive and has lots of rules you can use. Just keep in mind it doesn’t have predefined powers like you found in Mass Effect FATE.
We liked the predefined options in ME:F, so I’m curious if there’s a 3rd party supplement that offers more D&D-style abilities.
For something more D&D-esque, check out the Freeport Companion. It adapts the FATE system for more traditional fantasy settings.
You might want to check out the Dresden Files RPG; it’s built on the FATE system and offers a lot of narrative flexibility.
I think I have that book somewhere, I’ll have to dig it out and take another look!
Those sound interesting! I’ve also considered Eberron for more classic fantasy and Urban Arcana for modern themes.
