Looking for CPU Upgrade Advice for My Gaming Rig

Hey everyone! I’m looking for some guidance on upgrading my CPU. Currently, I have a 7950x3d paired with a 3090, but I’m considering swapping for a newer graphics card, either a 5090 or a 4090 (whichever I can find that’s not faulty). My PSU is solid at 1300W. I mainly use this PC for gaming and VR systems like the Index and Quest 3. What are your thoughts on a good upgrade?

You might be overthinking the CPU upgrade. The 7950x3d is excellent but if you’re feeling the itch, go for the 9950x3d. Just be prepared to drop a pretty penny if you’re set on that route!

Honestly, if you’re just gaming, that setup is already top-notch. But if you really want a CPU upgrade, I’d suggest checking out the 9800X3D. It’s fantastic for gaming and outperforms the 7950x3d in most scenarios.

What about the core count though? Doesn’t the more cores of the 7950x3d make it a better option for future-proofing?
