Looking for Chill Games That Won't Make Me Rage

-

I’m currently dealing with some intense withdrawal symptoms from both weed and antidepressants (probably not the best idea to quit them both at once). One major side effect has been extreme anger, and I’m on the hunt for games that won’t set me off. It’s surprisingly tough to find one! I even threw my controller while playing Luigi’s Mansion, something I’ve never done before. The games that have frustrated me the least are Disco Elysium (there’s not much to get mad about) and Celeste (the quick respawns help, although Chapter 9 was a bit frustrating). I enjoyed Super Mario Odyssey too, as it was a delightful experience overall.

The issue is, even with games I usually love—like Stardew Valley, Subnautica, and any of the Metroid or Zelda titles—I still find myself irritated by little problems that could be easily fixed, which just bugs me even more. I’m not just looking for easy games because sometimes those make me angrier than challenging ones! RPGs from Nintendo tend to drive me nuts since the combat gets so repetitive halfway through, making the game drag on without introducing new mechanics. Sorry for the long post, but I’d appreciate any recommendations! I’m hoping I’ll start feeling better soon.

You might enjoy Vampire Survivors if you’re looking for something addictive but not overly stressful. It starts off simple but can get intense, which is fun without being infuriating. Same goes for Loop Hero, it’s engaging but not overly challenging. Good luck finding a game that hits the right note for you!

Give Peggle Deluxe a shot! It’s not about high stakes or stressing out, just pure fun. You could also look into something like Hades; while it’s tough, it’s designed so that every death feels like progress, which can help keep the frustration at bay.

If you’re looking for something super relaxing, I recommend checking out Journey, Abzu, or Flower. They’re all designed to be laid-back and peaceful, perfect for what you’re going through. Journey in particular feels made for people who get frustrated with games—it’s more about the experience than the challenges!

Totally agree! Journey is a fantastic choice. The design and gameplay are just so calming, and it has a great sense of progression without the stress.

If you liked Disco Elysium, you might find Pentiment intriguing! Also, Fields of Mistria is a charming game that builds on Stardew Valley’s formula with quality-of-life improvements. Don’t forget to explore games labeled under “Relaxation” too, there’s a whole range that could fit your vibe!

How about trying No Man’s Sky? You can play it in a relaxed mode, and it’s gorgeous to explore. I started it recently and just love the chill vibe. You might also enjoy Lake, where you simply deliver packages—it’s a pretty soothing experience!
