Hey everyone! I’m on the hunt for some fun games that have a bit of a story but aren’t overwhelming with constant cutscenes and chatter. I enjoy games with short cutscenes, like ‘Klonoa,’ but I’ve found that titles with nonstop dialogue, such as ‘Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart,’ aren’t really my thing.
I’ve played and liked ‘Cult of the Lamb,’ ‘Cuphead,’ and ‘Dust: An Elysian Tail,’ but I’m over farming sims and most roguelites after burning out on ‘Vampire Survivors’ and ‘Balatro.’ I’m not into open-world games or long, story-heavy RPGs like Telltale series or ‘RoboCop.’ I really love collect-a-thons and platformers, especially games like ‘Spyro,’ ‘A Hat in Time,’ ‘Little Kitty Big City,’ ‘Astro Bot,’ and ‘Kao the Kangaroo.’
If you know of any games that match this vibe, I’d really appreciate your suggestions! PlayStation titles are preferred, but I’m open to anything!

You should definitely check out ‘Yooka-Laylee’ and ‘Tinykin’! They’re both great platformers with some fun twists. I also liked ‘Pumpkin Jack’ and ‘TY the Tasmanian Tiger’ for that chilled-out gameplay. ‘Stray’ could be interesting too, but it might be a bit more story-heavy than you’re after.
Have you tried ‘Spelunky 2’? It’s a roguelite, but it’s also a platformer and might be right up your alley! If you want more straightforward platforming, games like ‘A Hat in Time’ and ‘Super Lucky’s Tale’ are really good too. Surprised no one mentioned them yet!
How about giving ‘Rain World’ a shot? It’s a survival platformer where you collect items and explore. The world isn’t open like many games, so it might fit your taste for less storytelling without losing the fun of discovery!
I actually mentioned ‘A Hat in Time’ in my post, but thanks for the suggestion!
