Looking for an Isometric RPG with Simple Terrain and Rare Loot

-

I’m really into RPGs that feature very basic terrain and graphics. I love games like Age of Empires 2 (I heard there’s a mod in ranked that takes out the grass), Balrum, Kal Online, Dark Souls 1, Lineage 2, Civilization 3, and Minions of Mirth. I enjoy that old-school vibe with clean and smooth surfaces in the game world. I’m specifically searching for an RPG that embraces this aesthetic, but also offers a ton of different monsters for that exciting 1% loot chance. Dungeons are a must! Any recommendations?

Are you looking for specific loot grinding? If so, Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup could be a great fit. It checks most of your boxes, but keep in mind you won’t be grinding for those 1% drops since the game has a different approach to loot. Still, it’s a fun challenge!

The graphics might not be what you expect, but the gameplay is awesome! I love the strategy involved, thanks for the suggestion!

You might be confusing Lineage 2 with Lineage 1, as the former is a 3D game. But honestly, if we’re just focusing on the terrain style, both have that clean, simple look you’re after!

True! Both Lineage games share that simplified terrain vibe, even though the graphics are different. It’s all about the gameplay, right?

Have you checked out Outcast? It’s a hidden gem with that simplistic style you’re after, and it carries a unique atmosphere.

If you haven’t tried Kenshi yet, it’s worth a shot! It feels reminiscent of the early Fallout games with its open-world survival mechanics, and you can definitely set your own goals.
