I’m on the hunt for a minimalistic single-player first-person shooter that focuses purely on polished gameplay without any distractions—think no platforming sections, unskippable cutscenes, or puzzles. I just want to unwind and blast away! Doom Eternal seemed ideal, but the platforming bits really break the flow for me, even if they’re easy. While I appreciate games with depth and challenge, I don’t want anything as hardcore as Devil Daggers or Hyper Demon since I prefer a more chill experience. Ultrakill was another letdown because of the pesky puzzles, and its chaotic art style isn’t really my vibe either. Although I enjoy Krunker, I’m looking for a single-player option where the difficulty is tailored for enjoyment rather than being at the mercy of random players. Any suggestions?

If you’re looking for something more visceral, try the RoboCop game. It’s straightforward shooting but surprisingly fun. If you want a bit more story with your shooting, the Metro games are worth a look too.
Project Warlock just went on sale for $1.20 on Steam. It’s got that old-school Doom vibe with no jumping or puzzling—just straight-up guns and monsters!
Have you tried Warhammer Boltgun? It’s a love letter to classic Doom-style FPS games. The enemy variety could be better, but you get to run around blasting stuff in some pretty awesome maps.
Check out DUSK! It’s a retro shooter that’s super simple but loads of fun. Perfect for just relaxing and shooting without any major distractions.
You might enjoy Roboquest! It’s a roguelite FPS with solid gunplay and smooth movement. It’s polished gameplay all the way, without unnecessary distractions. Plus, it’s available on Game Pass!
