I’m moving on from my Druid main and considering a Barbarian or Rogue alt. I’ve got a Sorcerer at level 52, but I’m not keen on playing another Sorc. What I’m really after is a straightforward sword-swinging build—no fancy magic or flashy skills, just a classic ‘I hit things with my sword’ approach. Can anyone suggest if this is feasible with a Barbarian or Rogue build? I’m new to D4 when it comes to these classes, so any insight from veterans would be great!

You can easily go for a “sword and shout” Barbarian build. Just focus on using sword attacks and shouts to enhance your damage.
Yeah, back in Season 5, there was a viable bash Barbarian build that focused on swinging away! Definitely worth checking out some of those old builds for inspiration.
That sounds like a blast! I’ll dig into those build guides soon.
Check out this guide I found on Maxroll: https://maxroll.gg/d4/build-guides/bash-barbarian-guide. It could give you some useful insights for your sword build.
Thanks for the link! I’ll have to take a look.
Have you looked into a Frenzy Thorn Barbarian? They can be a lot of fun and hit pretty hard!
I’m taking notes on build names to check out! This sounds interesting.
I remember obliterating foes with one during season 2—great times!
Are you planning to take this build from 1-60? Or are you going to use caches like your Sorc? If leveling, do you want quick kills or big damage hits?
I’ll restart the campaign from level 1. I just want a fun sword-swinging experience without stressing about T1.
Consider going with Double Swing or Death Blow! Both are solid choices for a basic attack build, and quite satisfying.
If you had to design a build from the ground up, which would you pick?
Frenzy Barb can be quite efficient if you have the right gear, especially the Shard of Verathiel and Paingorgers. With those, you can really improve your damage and resource management.
That sounds promising! I’ve got a decent shard, but I still need to hunt down some solid gear.
Any specific builds you recommend checking out?
