I’m struggling to find a fresh champion main that fits my preferred playstyle. I really enjoy alternative approaches, especially those that involve managing resources and controlling tempo in the game. In the past, I’ve mained champions like Udyr with a power farm and split push style, Sion, and more recently Yorick jungle. However, the latest Yorick updates have taken away some of the fun for me. I also like playing AP Nasus and have had success with AP Yorick. I’m hoping to discover a champion that either has established viability or offers lots of room for creative optimization that suits this kind of strategic, tempo-based playstyle. Any recommendations?

You might want to give AP Jax a try. It’s a bit off the usual path but can fit what you’re describing since it mixes resource management with tempo control pretty well. Though, Jax can sometimes feel clunky, and since you value champion feel, it’s worth testing him out to see if it clicks with you.
Have you thought about expanding into champions that focus more on resource manipulation and tempo in a less straightforward way? Maybe experimenting with some scaling AP champs who gain power through stacking or farming, like AP Nasus but on other champions that haven’t been your mains yet. This approach could open up new tactics and optimization routes while still fitting your core preferences.
Hecarim could be exactly what you’re looking for. Running Conqueror with Legend: Haste and Transcendence, and building Swifties and Shojin, gives you insane jungle mobility and dueling power. With Smite and Ghost, your early game ganks and clears become unstoppable – you can even take on champs like Kha’Zix in 1v1s pretty confidently. If you liked Udyr’s aggressive split push and farming style, Hecarim offers a similarly dominant presence in the jungle with a strong tempo advantage.
I get what you’re saying about Hecarim, but I usually prefer to be able to do more during jungle clears, and it might not match my style perfectly.
I’ve actually tried AP Jax before, and I think it has potential for me. The only concern is that Jax’s feel isn’t quite perfect, but it’s definitely close to what I want.
