Hey everyone! I’m studying occupational therapy and I’m trying to find a way to incorporate an engaging DnD-like storytelling game into my sessions with school-aged kids (ages 6-18). I want something that helps with handwriting and social-emotional skills. I’ve been creating my own games themed around sports like baseball and soccer, where the kids rate their skills and I come up with a story, but I think a structured system would be super helpful. I’m a total newbie to DnD, so I’d love suggestions for easy-to-learn systems that I can adjust for different ages and skill levels. Any advice or resources you can share would be fantastic! Thanks a bunch!

I gifted a set of Dragonbane to a 12-year-old in my family, and she loved it! However, keep in mind it may not be ideal for younger kids, but still worth a glance for the age group you’re working with.
You might want to check out a game called Mausritter. It’s designed to be accessible and fun for younger audiences while incorporating storytelling elements. I think it could work really well in your sessions!
Check out the Freeform Universal Roleplaying Game. It has a simple narrative-based system that’s really easy to adapt. Plus, it’s free to download, so you can try it without any cost. Perfect for your needs!
I appreciate the suggestion! Simple sounds perfect for the group.
As a speech-language pathologist, I’ve had good success with Wildsea in my social skills groups. It’s flexible, and you can let the kids vote on their choices to keep them engaged. You might find it works well for what you’re looking to do!
Thanks for the recommendation! I’ll definitely look into Wildsea.
Wildsea is super cool! Might be worth checking out because of its focus on storytelling.
I recommend looking into ‘Magical Kitties Save the Day!’ and ‘No Thank You, Evil!’ These games are tailored for younger players and come highly rated. They include easy-to-follow rules and lots of room for creativity!
That sounds like a solid option. I love that you can customize it easily!
