I’m on the hunt for games that provide a cozy medieval travel experience. Ideally, I’m looking for something where I can roam between villages and cities, load a cart or wagon (preferably interactable), and manage supplies along the way. Combat and RPG elements are great additions, but the main focus is on that wanderlust, travel vibe with an extra cozy touch.

Many games with a medieval travel element tend to be more about merchant mechanics with lots of menus rather than interaction, like Merchants of Kaidan. Some games aren’t quite in the ‘cozy’ category due to challenging gameplay, like Outward. Kenshi’s setting isn’t medieval, so that doesn’t fit either. A close-but-not-perfect option is Mount & Blade: Warband, which offers merchant simulation but not quite to the level you’re looking for. My suggestion? Customize Skyrim with mods for camping, wagons, and economy systems, which can deliver a unique medieval travel vibe.
I wanted to enjoy Outward too but found it more annoying than a good challenge.
Thanks for the ideas!
