I’m on the hunt for a game that won’t lose my interest too quickly. I need something that offers a strong sense of progression, constantly unlocking new mechanics, areas, and gear. It’s a bit weird, but if I can predict how the endgame will feel, I tend to get bored and stop playing. I’m after that real sense of achievement, similar to what I felt in WoW Classic. Here are some games I’ve enjoyed: Old School RuneScape (OSRS), WoW Classic, PokeMMO, DayZ, and Rust.

If you haven’t played Skyrim yet, or its Anniversary Edition, I highly recommend it! I’ve burned countless hours in that game since launch, and there’s so much content, it feels like the story is never really done. Fallout games are also great for immersion, especially New Vegas, which has no definitive end.
You might want to check out Abiotic Factor. It’s a unique survival game focused on indoor exploration where you start with basic makeshift tools and gradually unlock advanced technology and shortcuts. The lore is intriguing, pulling inspiration from games like SCP and Half-Life, which adds depth as you progress.
For a fresh take, why not give Project Zomboid a shot? It’s a survival game with a steep learning curve, but it’s super rewarding as you discover new mechanics and strategies. Plus, it’s multiplayer-friendly with a vibrant modding community to keep it alive!
Valheim is another solid choice! You play as a Viking exploring different realms, where you can build bases, fight bosses, and craft new gear. The game has a lot of biomes to explore, each with unique challenges, so you’ll constantly be unlocking new materials and options.
