Hey everyone! I’m on the hunt for a single player tactical shooter, and I’m particularly leaning towards third-person gameplay. I’ve put in over 600 hours into the latest Ghost Recon titles and played through all the older ones too. While I enjoy Ground Branch, I’m eager to try something fresh. Unfortunately, I’m not great at Ready or Not; the pressure of losing squad mates when they die and the need for vigilance can be pretty overwhelming for me—especially with the long loading times on my rig, which cuts into my actual playtime. I tried Arma 3, but my preference for third-person controls and a controller didn’t mesh well with that game. While I found MGS:V exciting, the sci-fi elements don’t sit right with me. So, I’m searching for a single player, open world, third-person tactical shooter that I can dive deep into and truly enjoy. Any recommendations or suggestions would be super helpful while I wait for the next Ghost Recon game! Thanks a bunch!

Sniper Elite 4 is worth a shot, especially if you tweak the settings to make it more immersive. Try using the Alterato mod to disable the HUD—it’s pretty sweet and customizable. Make sure to set enemy damage to marksman difficulty for a balanced challenge.
Have you tried Insurgency: Sandstorm? The singleplayer mode can be quite satisfying, and the AI provides a decent challenge. Just a heads up though, it’s more FPS than third-person, but the tactics involved might hit the spot for you.
I thought Sandstorm was multiplayer only! Awesome to know there’s a singleplayer mode!
Sandstorm’s co-op mode is a blast too, just saying!
You should definitely check out the Sniper Elite series! They offer a great tactical experience with a focus on stealth and precision. Spec Ops: The Line is also a solid option if you’re in for a story-driven tactical shooter which gets quite intense.
Thanks for the suggestions! I’ll look into both of them!
I own SE4! I’ll give it a go with those settings. I love tactical shooters, especially ones that make you think.
