Looking for 3D Game Recommendations That Run Smoothly on Medium to High Settings

-

Hey everyone! I’ve been diving into emulated games on my Steam Deck and I’ve got a decent collection of pixel games. Now I’m on the hunt for some 3D games that can run smoothly on medium to high settings, ideally maintaining a steady 60fps. I recently tried playing Arkham Knight, which performed pretty well, running at around 40-50fps on high settings without motion blur. To get a stable 60fps, I think I’ll need to drop it to medium. It seems like games from the Xbox 360 and PS3 era might be my best bet for achieving those high frame rates.

Here’s what I’m after:
– Stable frames at ~60fps on medium to high settings.
– Games I’ve enjoyed before: BOTW (GC Emulation), Pokémon (GBA Emulation), Saints Row 3, GTA, Mafia.
– I love adventure games, Souls-like (I’m not great at them but still want to try), and roguelikes/lites.
– I have no budget constraints.
– The reason I’m looking for higher fps is that I tried playing GOTG on low settings and it felt choppy, around 30fps or less in some areas. I want older games that can look and feel better with that 60fps experience.

Thanks for your help with recommendations!

Mass Effect Legendary Edition runs smoothly at 60fps on the Steam Deck. It’s definitely worth playing!

Titanfall 2 is a fantastic choice! It’s one of my all-time favorites and runs like a dream. Definitely give it a shot on your SD.

I didn’t even think about Titanfall 2! I’ll definitely have to try it out.

If you want solid performance, the original Oblivion can run at 90fps, though I usually cap it at 45fps for battery savings. Some games I’ve played that should hit a stable 60fps include:
– Red Dead Redemption 1
– Any title by Valve
– Burnout Paradise
– Bomb Rush Cyberfunk
– Borderlands 1 & 2
– Dishonored
– Deep Rock Galactic
– Skyrim
– Halo Master Chief Collection (except for some parts in H2 Anniversary)
– GTA IV
– Hifi Rush
– Just Cause 2
– Mad Max
– Mass Effect Legendary Edition
– Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain
– Project Zomboid
– Selaco
Also, Dark Souls 3 can hit 60fps, though it dips occasionally, so I usually prefer 45fps for that one. Good luck finding some gems!

Thanks! These recommendations are just what I was looking for! I already own Project Zomboid and GTA IV, but I prefer using a mouse and keyboard for PZ. I’m definitely excited to try out GTA IV. I haven’t played Dishonored yet, but it’s on my list now!

I went a bit off the radar with my suggestions, but here are some titles that have great reviews and should run well:
– Another Crab’s Treasure (Souls-like)
– Furi (awesome music and boss rush action)
– The original Dark Souls trilogy
– Temtem, kind of like Pokémon, might work well
– The Big Catch Tacklebox, a free platformer with about 60+ fps on lower settings
– Also, classics like Crash Bandicoot: Insane Trilogy and Spyro for some fun platforming.
– Dredge is really interesting; fishing and some creepy vibes!
– Monster Hunter Rise has received praise too, and the DLC is where it gets great.
– Borderlands 1 and 2 are really fun and should run at 60fps.
– And don’t forget about the Mass Effect trilogy, it runs pretty well too! Good luck!

Thanks for your suggestions! I’ll check out Monster Hunter Rise; I heard it performs well on the SD since it’s a Switch port. Temtem was refunded just after 20 mins, but I might give it another shot during a sale.
