Hey everyone! I recently sold my ROG Ally and picked up a Deck OLED, and I couldn’t be more excited about it! I only got to play about five minutes of Hotline Miami 2 so far, but it was such a relief. I was really getting sick of all the Windows and ASUS updates, which made me play less over time. I started to feel like after all that tinkering and updating, I should only be playing the more demanding games to justify it. I know it sounds a bit silly, but I just want to game without all the hassle of constant updates. Now that I’m part of this community, I’d love to get some tips for beginners. Also, I found out my charger is a UK adapter. Is it safe to use my 120W Xiaomi charger for the Deck? Will it harm the device?

Honestly, the ROG Ally’s battery life was a big downside for me, so I totally get why you switched. The Deck has a solid ergonomics which makes it easier for longer sessions. As for the charger, any USB-C charger that supports at least 45W power delivery will work perfectly fine with your Deck!
The Deck’s updates aren’t a huge issue like they are on Windows. Most updates are quick and are usually just game updates when you boot up. As for you switching from the Ally, you might miss some of the customization, but the Deck is so much easier to just pick up and play without the extra frills.
That’s good to hear! I hope it’ll be less of a hassle.
Dude, you made a wise choice! The OLED is way more enjoyable for gaming, plus the community support is fantastic. Just remember, the Deck will still give you a few update pop-ups, but it’s nothing like your experience with Windows. And yes, your charger is good as long as it supports USB PD.
Yeah, I’ve got a 65W charger for mine and it works well!
Congrats on the upgrade! You might’ve traded some raw power for usability, but you’ll find the Deck is much more user-friendly. Plus, the OLED screen is gorgeous! Your charger will be fine as long as it meets those USB PD standards.
Man, I’m not too techy with chargers. Can you give me a quick guide to what specs I should be checking?
Welcome to the family! Just a heads-up, even on the Deck, you’ll still find updates waiting for you once you hit desktop mode. But don’t worry, the experience feels way smoother than what you dealt with on Windows. As for the charger, you should be okay using your Xiaomi one. It’ll only charge as fast as the Deck needs it to, and since it’s over 45W, you’re in the clear!
Yeah, it might be fine, but just double-check the wattage and voltage specs first.
Yeah, battery life was definitely a concern with the Ally!
