Hey all, I recently picked up an NES along with some awesome games like Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out, Super Mario Brothers/Duck Hunt, Ninja Gaiden, and Tetris. I’m already on the lookout for classics like Super Mario Bros. 2 and 3, Zelda, Metroid, Contra 1 and 2, and the Castlevania series. However, I’m sure there’s more out there that I’m missing. What other gems should I add to my collection that are totally worth it?

You’ve got to try Super Dodgeball! It’s incredibly satisfying once you master the power moves. Also, DuckTales is another fun one – it’s just got that classic charm.
You should dive into some classics like Maniac Mansion or give Baseball Stars a go. Journey To Silius is a hidden gem that often gets overlooked.
Definitely try the Dragon Quest/Dragon Warrior series, great classics on the NES. And if you’re into trying different styles, Final Fantasy is another must-have for your collection.
You can’t go wrong with the Mega Man series. It’s a blast to play any of them, but if I had to pick one, Mega Man 2 is a great starting point. If you’re into games with a unique twist, give Bionic Commando a shot. It’s another Capcom gem with some cool mechanics.
If you’re up for something unique, check out Metal Storm. It’s a side-scrolling shooter with gravity mechanics. Also, Little Samson is a bit hard to find but totally worth it if you come across it.
For something off the beaten path, try Guardian Legend – it’s an action-adventure mix that’s pretty rad. And don’t forget about Dr. Mario for some good puzzle fun, especially when you’re playing with a friend!
If you want the whole NES experience without breaking the bank, consider getting a flash cart. It’s a solid way to enjoy all the games and then decide which ones you’d like to own.
Two must-plays are the arcade-style Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles games: The Arcade Game and TMNT III: The Manhattan Project. Just be sure you don’t accidentally grab the first one unless you’re really up for a challenge!
