Hey everyone! I’m pretty new to PlayStation, having only owned a PS1 ages ago. I’ve been gaming on a Switch and an Xbox Series S, but now I’m eyeing a PS5 and a Portal I found on eBay. I’ve heard some of the older PS5s had issues, so I’m thinking a newer slim model would be best.
Which games would you all recommend for someone like me? My most played titles are probably Elden Ring, Zelda, and Bayonetta. I also really enjoy funny games, especially the more absurd, the better!

My original PS5 has been running smoothly, but keep in mind that many PS4 games are being ported over to PS5. There are a few exciting PS5 exclusive titles coming in 2026 too!
For games, you can’t go wrong with Sackboy, Astro Bot, Bloodborne, Gran Turismo, and Ghost of Tsushima. Those should keep you entertained for a while!
I’d say get the PS5 first! You can always decide on the Portal later. It might be good to try out remote play on a different device first (like your phone or tablet) to see if you actually find it useful. If you do, then the Portal would really level up your experience since it’s dedicated for that.
I’ve had my PS5 since launch, and I use it daily without any issues after 4 years. So don’t worry too much about the older models!
You should definitely check out Astro Bot—it’s fantastic and a great way to get used to the PlayStation! It’s surprisingly charming and fun.
