I’ve just switched to a 9070 XT from an RTX 2070 Super while using Mint 22.1 x86_64. After updating my kernel to Linux 6.13.7-x64v3-xanmod1 and installing the Mesa 25.0.1 driver, I’ve been struggling with crashes that seem common among users of this card. Additionally, I’m not seeing the performance improvement I’d expected. For instance, Path of Exile 2 only runs at 25 fps on the login screen, and even the 2070 Super performed better. Warframe also plays similarly to how it did on my NVIDIA card. Is there more software I need, or should I wait for newer drivers, a kernel update, or anything else to enhance performance and stability?

It’s pretty common to run into crashes and performance issues with new cards like the 9070 XT, especially right now. The drivers and game support can be a bit shaky initially, even on Windows, so don’t lose hope. Just give it some time for the games and drivers to improve; they will eventually get better as support rolls out.
I checked out a review from Level 1 Techs, and they noted some concerns with the kernel, Mesa packages, and possibly firmware issues. It might be worth keeping an eye on updates for those components while waiting for official driver improvements.
