I recently switched from using a shared Xbox to getting my own Xbox. I’ve downloaded all my games, but now that I’m using a different account, I’m having trouble with games that require discs. They won’t install and keep throwing up errors saying there’s an issue with the disc, even though they work perfectly on my old Xbox. Does anyone have any advice on how to fix this?

It sounds like you might have a bad disc drive on your new Xbox, especially if everything works fine on the old one. If both are Xbox Ones, double-check the discs for scratches, just in case. You can also try this: insert the disc, but don’t start the install. Instead, open the game in the store and look for a button to start the installation from there. This way, it’ll download completely instead of relying on the disc. You could also consider copying your games from your old Xbox using a USB drive or a network transfer if the disc issue persists.
You might also want to check if there are any updates for your new console. Sometimes updates can fix compatibility issues that could cause installation problems. Just head to settings and check for system updates.
Could just be that the disc has some wear and tear that’s causing issues when reading it. If you got the console used, maybe the disc drive is wearing out. You can try checking if the disc works fine on another Xbox if you know someone who has one. But if you’re still getting errors and the disc works on your old console, it may be the new device’s disc drive.
