I thought the first run in Heroic Brawl was supposed to be free, but I just had to spend my gold on the mini set and now I have no coins left. What’s going on?

Actually, the first run in Heroic Brawl has never been free; that only applies to other brawls. If you’re not sure it’s worth your time, maybe it’s best to skip it this time.
Just to clarify, there have been a few Brawliseum events where they provided a free run, but that’s not the norm for Heroic Brawl. So, you might want to plan accordingly next time!
Yeah, Heroic Brawl doesn’t offer a free run. I only just noticed I had to play two Tavern Brawls for a quest, which explains the sudden change. Not very subtle on their part.
