Hey everyone! I’m really curious about how the Steam Deck is handling Windows 11 as we move into 2025. Are all the necessary drivers available now? I’d love to hear your experiences and any tricks you’ve found to get it working well.

Drivers are indeed available, but I must warn you—Windows on the Steam Deck is kind of a mixed bag. It’s slow and not very optimized for gaming on this device. Updates can take forever, and even idle there’s some weird fan noise because of the resource load. It’s just not ideal right now, even though I love Windows on my desktop.
Why would you even want to run Windows on a Steam Deck? If you just want to game, SteamOS is pretty solid. Maybe some prefer using Xbox streaming or certain multiplayer games that have anti-cheat that doesn’t play nice with Linux.
I dual booted Windows 11 on my Deck about two years ago, and honestly, it runs great! People seem to have a lot of negativity towards it, but if you just debloat it and download a handy app like Handheld Companion, it works really well. You should give it a shot!
Right? I don’t get the hate either. As long as you set it up right, it can be pretty smooth sailing.
Sounds like you might not have set it up correctly. I haven’t had those issues at all!
