I’ve been trying to replay Wind Waker on the Switch 2 online, but I’m really struggling with the control scheme. Back in the GameCube days, we didn’t have much choice, but now I can’t seem to get the camera controls right on Switch. I like to play with the controls inverted—down is up, up is down, and I’ve even got right and left switched around. I tried using the remap control feature, but it just made things worse. I’m curious if the Wii U version of Wind Waker made any improvements to this control issue. Does anyone know if it’s better? I don’t want to pay a high price for the game if the camera controls haven’t really changed.

You can change those camera settings in the online options. But if remapping made it worse, maybe you just need to set it to the default and then tweak from there. Just double-check that your settings are right, it might be something simple!
I prefer the Wii U version myself. The controls are pretty similar to the GameCube version, but they feel more polished on the gamepad. Yes, you can still invert the axes on the Switch 2, but it’s not a game-changer. If you can, I suggest grabbing the HD version—it’s just more enjoyable overall!
Thanks for the insight! Sounds like a solid investment.
I tried the GameCube version on Switch 2, and honestly, it’s not as good as the Wii U version. The controls feel clunky compared to what I remember, and the graphics are definitely better on the HD version. If you can get your hands on it, I’d say go for the Wii U version because it significantly enhances the experience!
Totally agree! The nostalgia hit hard, but the HD isn’t just for looks—it’s functional too!
The Wii U version actually made a few improvements! It gives you the option to aim with the right stick and includes gyroscopic aiming too. Plus, they shortened the Triforce quest and introduced the Swift Sail so you don’t have to constantly adjust the wind direction. Definitely worth considering if you want a smoother experience!
I agree! Those quality of life changes really make a difference in gameplay.
The game feels a lot better on Wii U. I’d recommend playing it if you get the chance!
I might have overlooked something, I’ll definitely give it another shot!
