I’m trying to figure out the best orientation for my PS5 Slim. Some folks say that keeping it horizontal is better for cooling due to the liquid metal design and that it attracts less dust. On the other hand, I like the look of it standing vertically, plus it takes up less space. I’ve got the vertical stand ready, but I’m unsure which position will be more beneficial in the long run.

From what I’ve heard, many technicians prefer horizontal for long-term use. When the PS5 is vertical, the liquid metal can create dry spots since it might not flow as evenly. It’s crucial to also check that there’s enough space around it; some people make the mistake of cramming their consoles into tight spaces, which can lead to overheating.
So it’s really horizontal that’s better? I plan to keep mine out in the open on my desk, so air circulation shouldn’t be an issue, but I definitely want to go with what’s best for the console.
Both setups work without a hitch, but I believe Sony intended for the PS5 to shine when used vertically, even if horizontal was an afterthought. If you love the vertical feel, go for it!
Ultimately, both orientations are fine, but I’ve noticed that horizontal tends to be better for the long run. It helps stop the liquid metal from pooling and creates those annoying air pockets that can affect cooling.
It really comes down to personal choice. The PS5 is designed to function in both orientations, and the vertical stand shows that. Personally, I think vertical looks cooler, but some might argue that horizontal keeps it safer mechanically. I’ve had my consoles upright from day one and haven’t faced any issues.

But hasn’t this whole Vertical vs. Horizontal debate been settled already?
