Hey everyone! I’m curious to know if any of you have upgraded to the PS5 Pro, are planning to get it, or are just sticking with the regular PS5 Slim until the PS6 drops. I’ve been wondering how many people actually buy the Pro given its price. To me, it feels pretty pricey, especially since you could get two digital edition PS5s for the cost of one Pro. What’s your take on whether the Pro is a good value?

People say it’s not a huge upgrade, but if you’ve owned the original PS5 and then move to the Pro on a capable TV, it honestly feels like a huge leap. Expensive? Yes. Worth it? If you ask me, definitely!
I own both the original PS5 and the Pro. The Pro definitely feels like a nice upgrade, but I wouldn’t say you’re losing out if you stick with the base PS5. It’s really a matter of whether you want those extra bells and whistles or not.
My take? Go PC if you want the best bang for your buck, or just wait for the PS6.
I actually bought the Pro on day one but sold it within a week because I didn’t see a huge enough jump. After trying again, I realized the big difference was in that PSSR setting. If you turn PSSR off, you get better base resolution and solid 90+ FPS in games like GT7 and Overwatch without the weird shimmering effects. That made a huge difference for me.
Honestly, the PS5 Pro might be the best console experience I’ve had, but it’s definitely expensive. Inflation and all aside, it’s just a pricey machine. Still, I find myself playing more to justify the cost, so in that sense, it was worth it for me.
If you have a high-end TV or a good monitor, the PS5 Pro really shines. The graphical improvements and smoothness are way more noticeable when you can truly push the hardware’s limits.
For me, it’s more than worth it. The clarity and smoothness on the Pro can’t be matched by the base PS5. Of course, the standard PS5 is still a solid console, but if you want the best picture and performance, the Pro delivers.
I’d love to have a Pro but prices make it tough. I’m sticking with my regular PS5 for now.
I got my Pro at launch and it’s been awesome. No need to sacrifice between resolution and frame rate anymore, which is huge. Also, with extra storage and an M.2 SSD, it’s quieter and faster. The new PSSR effect looks pretty sweet too.
I’ve got the PS5 Pro and honestly, I love it. The boost in performance is noticeable in pretty much every game I’ve played, and I wouldn’t want to go back to the OG PS5. That said, I’d only recommend it if you’re someone who plays most major releases regularly.
At about $800 here, I’m on the fence since I also have a pretty powerful RX7800XT on PC. If you primarily game on console, the Pro offers solid upgrades but the price is definitely a factor.
Picked up the Pro this week and I have a 4K UHD TV. I can already see a noticeable difference in games like Assassin’s Creed: Shadows. The Slim was good but this Pro really steps it up.
I love my PS5 Pro just like I loved my PS4 Pro before it. Best quality and frame rates I’ve ever had on a console, so I’m all in on this one.
If you’ve got the cash and a good display, the PS5 Pro makes a noticeable difference. I personally prefer smoother frames over just better graphics, and the Pro gives me both. Didn’t get to compare side-by-side with the base PS5, though.
One tip: If you get the Pro, try turning off PSSR (the ray tracing feature) sometimes. It can make visuals look a bit shaky or shimmering, but with it off, the console still runs beautifully at higher frame rates and resolutions.
I’m still rocking my original launch PS5 and loving it. I also have a Portal device, so I’m not really feeling the need to spend extra on the Pro for what seems like minor upgrades. Maybe down the line if new games really take advantage of the Pro’s features or if the price drops, I might reconsider. For now, the base PS5 does everything I want.
If you don’t already own a PS5, I’d say the Pro is worth considering. I suspect Sony will keep supporting the PS5 with new games like they did with the PS4, so the PS6 might not come out with exclusives immediately, giving the base PS5 a long life.
Yeah, chances of PS5 exclusives dying off soon are basically zero.
Just a heads up, the original PS5 still sells for around $330 at trade-in places like GameStop if anyone is thinking of upgrading and wants to offset some cost.
I skipped the PS4 Pro, so the PS5 Pro is my first ‘Pro’ console. Added a 2TB WD_Black SSD for a total of 4TB storage, and now I have so many games installed it’s crazy. The ability to switch between performance and fidelity modes is a game changer for me. Got it under $500 with an employee discount, so it was worth it in my case despite the $700 retail price.
For me the PS5 feels so solid I’m happy to stick until PS6. It’s going to be good for years to come.
For me, the Pro is worth it. Having 1.8 TB of usable space is huge, and all the games run at max settings with no worries about frame drops or reduced render distance. I just picked one up recently and it’s been amazing to play on so far.
I had a PS4 Pro and didn’t feel it was really worth the upgrade, and with how seldom I use my PS5 Slim, I’m fine waiting for the PS6 before considering an upgrade.

Honestly, I think the PS6 store will still have tons of PS4 games for a long time even after PS5 and PS6 games flood in.
