Hey everyone! I have an IdeaPad Gaming 3 15ACH6 (model no 82K20289IN) that currently has 8GB of built-in RAM. I’m considering an upgrade and discovered that I could potentially add a 16GB stick in the second slot. I’m really curious about moving from 8GB to a solid 24GB setup. Can anyone confirm if this upgrade is feasible? Should I stick with the standard 8GB + 8GB configuration instead?

It’s generally best to upgrade both RAM sticks to a matching set for stability and performance. Check your laptop specifications to see the fastest RAM speed it can support and make sure to buy compatible 8GB or 16GB sticks. Mixing different RAM can lead to issues as performance will default to the slowest stick.
Yeah, and since yours is DDR4 with 3200 speed, there’s definitely a good chance it’ll work well!
Anyone else out there with the same model who can confirm this? I’d love to hear real-life experiences!
If the default stick can be changed, I recommend installing two 16GB sticks. It will definitely boost your performance! If you can’t swap it out, the 8GB + 8GB setup should be fine too.
Upgrading to 24GB should work without issues! Unlike desktop RAM, laptop memory typically doesn’t require overclocking to function at full speed, so you shouldn’t face major stability issues.
Also, just a heads up, the 8GB might be soldered, which could affect your options.
