I’m currently playing Rocket League on three 165Hz Acer Nitro monitors and I’m considering upgrading my center monitor specifically for 1080 gaming. Since Rocket League is the only competitive game I play, I’m curious if moving to a 200Hz monitor is worth it, or if it’s just a minor upgrade like the debate between 144Hz and 165Hz.

When it comes to FPS and refresh rates, diminishing returns come into play, even in fast-paced games. Since Rocket League doesn’t demand immediate reactions, I’d say 144Hz is a sweet spot for both cost and performance. Honestly, if you’re considering the upgrade just for Rocket League, you might want to hold off.
Upgrading to 240Hz is definitely an improvement over 144Hz or 165Hz, but the difference might not be hugely noticeable, especially if you’re playing games that aren’t super fast-paced. For Rocket League, sticking with the 165Hz might be just fine. If you really want a new monitor, maybe look for a solid QHD 144 or 165Hz instead for a better visual experience instead of just a refresh rate upgrade.

I’ve switched from a 165Hz 1080p monitor to a 240Hz 1440p one, and the difference for me was substantial! Everything feels way smoother, but keep in mind, this upgrade experience varies from person to person.
