I recently noticed that my favorite Final Fantasy games are the ones involving Yoshinori Kitase and Tetsuya Nomura. This includes titles like 6, 7, 8, 10, 10-2, 13, 15, along with Crisis Core, Remake, and Rebirth. It wasn’t a conscious choice, but now that I’ve realized this connection, I’m curious if there should be a name for this particular group of games. Do others feel the same way?

You might be referring to the Creative Unit 1 team led by Kitase. They’re currently working on the FF7 Remake trilogy and KH4. Just so you know, not only Kitase’s team contributed to FF6 and FF7; it was a big collaboration from everyone at Square back in the day.
There’s really no official or fan-made term for these games, but they do tend to lean more towards the ‘anime-esque’ style, unlike the older ones, which felt more traditional fantasy. The storylines often have that modern vibe with impending world-ending threats, despite the common theme across all titles.
Well, they’re just called Final Fantasy games, you know?
While there isn’t a specific name for their games, you might also want to include Kazushige Nojima, since his writing work overlaps with many of Kitase and Nomura’s projects. He co-created Stranger of Paradise with them, which is worth mentioning!
Oh? I haven’t checked that one out yet. Might give it a try soon!
