Hey everyone! I’ve been noticing something strange this season in the ones mode of Rocket League. I usually play as a low Grand Champion in 2s and 3s, and I often find myself matching against Champion 1 players in ones. I’ve even hit Champion 2 a couple of times, but this season feels different. It seems like I’m facing a lot more players who are around 1650-1700 MMR from other modes, and I can’t seem to keep up. My mechanical gameplay feels better than ever, but I’m struggling to deal with opponents landing flip resets and quick recoveries. I’m curious if anyone else has felt this rank shift and where I might find fairer matchups—should I be aiming for Diamond 1 or 2 instead?

The season is still fresh, so that could be part of it. I can usually hit Champion 2 in ones but struggle to stay at Champion 1 these days. Most of my opponents seem to be mid to high Diamonds, so maybe it’ll balance out soon. I’ve only played about 15 matches this season, but it sounds like others are feeling it too.
I totally get what you’re saying! I was at Champion 1 in ones not long ago, and when I jump in now, it feels kind of unfair. I rarely play ones myself—maybe 10-20 matches a season—but this season has been rougher than usual. I’ve dropped about 100-150 MMR from my peak, and it’s like everyone is just playing better overall. It might settle down later in the season, though!
Yeah, it does seem like ones is getting tougher lately. I’ve been maining ones, and it feels like more players are taking it seriously, especially after the RLCS 1v1 event. So you’re not imagining it; it’s definitely more competitive now!
