I’m curious if anyone else feels that a TV-only version of the Switch would be a great idea. Personally, I’m not interested in the portable aspect of the console at all. The original Switch already felt a bit bulky for my liking, and with the rumored larger Switch 2, taking it on the go just isn’t going to happen for me. I liked the concept of the Switch Lite being portable only, but I want the opposite: a straightforward, TV-only option without the screen, ideally packaged with a pro controller. It seems more practical for those of us who mostly game at home, right?

You’re definitely not alone in your thoughts! Statistics show that only about 8% of Switch users play in docked mode exclusively. It seems there’s a decent niche for someone who prefers gaming at home without the extra bulk. A streamlined TV-only version could appeal to that crowd, although it might not have broad appeal since the portable feature is a major selling point for the Switch overall.
Just superglue the Switch to your TV, right? 😂 But seriously, you’ve got a point; a dedicated home gaming unit could potentially be better value without the cost of the screen.
Nintendo might be hesitant to create a console-only version since the Switch’s whole gimmick is being both portable and docked. If they do decide to go for it, I think it would be a tough sell, but I totally get where you’re coming from. For serious gamers who only use it docked, it could make sense!
Exactly! A TV-only option might just serve those of us who never undock it, which could be a pretty profitable market.
I’m with you! The Switch can feel a bit clunky to carry around. I’d rather have a sleek option designed purely for the TV. It might be a bit of a niche, but worth considering for those who don’t travel with their consoles.
Totally agree! Sometimes I think about how the Switch Lite caters to a specific audience, so a TV-only version doesn’t seem that far-fetched!
That makes total sense. I can see how a lot of folks wouldn’t need that portability. For me, it’s all about the big screen experience!
