I’m considering purchasing the Steam Deck dock because I usually play it weekly, and it often runs out of battery by the time I want to use it. My idea is to have it on the dock, so I won’t have to worry about it dying. However, at $70, I’m not sure if it’s worth it. What’s your take on it?

Honestly, the dock is convenient for accessing ports and playing on a TV, but remember it still needs to be plugged in, so you could just charge your Steam Deck directly instead. If you’re worried about the battery dying, maybe just connect it when you’re finished playing!
If you really only play once a week, just plugging it in regularly might be more efficient. The dock isn’t as seamless as you might hope since you still have to connect the USB-C. Getting it mainly to play on a TV might not justify the cost unless that’s something you really plan to do often!
I bought the dock, and I think it’s fine, though definitely overpriced. I mainly use it to connect my Steam Deck to a larger monitor. If you can find a used Dell dock, they have a ton of ports and work well too!
I’d skip the official dock. I’ve had terrible experiences with it being finicky and not working properly. A cheaper third-party dock would do just fine. Some friends recommend using a dongle that allows HDMI out and power delivery without the hassle of the official dock.
I agree, I picked up a cheap one and it’s been working great!
Good suggestion! I’ve had my fair share of issues with the official one too.
