I’m looking to buy a new laptop and I’m trying to decide between two options: one with the RTX 4060 and another with the RTX 4070. Is the performance difference significant enough to justify going for the 4070 instead of the 4060, especially considering the price?

It really comes down to pricing and the laptop size. Right now, some 4060 laptops are overpriced, so if you can grab a 4070 for a reasonable price, it might be worth it. But don’t pay more than $1,100 for a 4060 or $1,400 to $1,500 for a 4070. You’ll definitely see better performance on the 4070, especially at higher resolutions, though remember that the gap narrows with higher VRAM usage since they share the same memory layout.
From what I’ve seen, the RTX 4070 at 100W+ is about 20% faster than the RTX 4060 at the same wattage. Ideally, if the price difference is around 15% or less, it could be a solid deal to go for the 4070. Just make sure all other specs match up!
If the RTX 4070 model costs 20% more than the 4060, I’d say it’s not really worth it. The performance gap isn’t huge between the 4060 and 4070, especially compared to the jump you’d see to the 4080.
That’s a good point! At higher resolutions, the 4060 and 4070 performance differences can shrink because of shared memory specs.
