I’m putting together a gaming PC that I’ve designed to stay around 220 watts total power consumption. For 1080p gaming, I’m considering the RTX 4060 because it consumes about 120 watts and has all the latest features, which should help boost fps. However, I know a lot of people aren’t high on this GPU. I’m curious if there’s a better option out there for my situation. What do you experts recommend? I’m planning to source all the parts from the used market.

The RTX 4060 is a solid pick if your 220-watt PSU has the right PCIe power connector. If it doesn’t, the 3050 6GB is the fastest option powered through the slot alone.
Your total wattage also depends on your CPU and how many drives or other components you’re planning to include. Just make sure everything fits together well to stay within your limit.
I’m using an i5-13f CPU, a 1TB M.2 970 SSD, and 16GB of Oloy DDR4 3600 RAM.
Is 220 watts a strict limit for your setup, or is that just the wattage rating of the PSU you plan to use? The 5060 Ti with 16GB might give you a bit better performance per watt, but keep in mind it generally uses more power overall. Undervolting could help reduce consumption, though I’m not sure if you can bring your total power use under 220 watts.
Yeah, 220 watts is definitely my ceiling. I’m also looking into undervolting the 4060 to keep it around that number.
If you’re considering the 4070 Ti and undervolting it, you could get it to run around 180 watts—it usually peaks around 220 in games. With a little tinkering, you might even be able to push it down to around 160 watts without losing any performance.
I need to keep the whole system around 220 watts, not just the GPU.
I haven’t settled on a PSU yet; I’m trying to finalize the GPU first.
