Hey everyone! I’m wrapping up my first PC build and planning to pair it with a Ryzen 7 5800XT. However, I’m on a tight budget of around $300 and finding used options in my area is quite difficult due to high prices. I’m considering the RTX 3060 12GB or the 5060 8GB, and I’m starting to doubt whether the 3060 is still a solid choice in 2025. I’ll be gaming at 1080p and also looking to start streaming casually. Since my only purchase option is through Amazon with free shipping to my region, I’d love to hear your thoughts! Thanks!

BestBuy has some open box 16GB 9060 XTs around $300. If you’re okay with that option, it might be worth it. Otherwise, the price difference to get a new 16GB version is often justified, especially for future games. The RTX 5060 is faster than the 3060, but it has 8GB and struggles in certain scenarios. Plus, the 9060 series has more PCIe lanes, which helps with performance longevity.
The RTX 5060 does outperform the 3060 in some newer games, but the 9060XT 8GB will likely give you better frame rates overall, especially for AAA titles. Just keep an eye on prices since the market can vary. You want something that’ll hold up well for a few years without needing an upgrade.
I think saving a bit more for the 9060XT 16GB is the way to go. The performance difference is significant, and it’ll future-proof your build better than the 3060.
That’s absolutely the right move. Plus, make sure to run DDU on your current GPU for a clean driver uninstall before switching!
While the 3060 has decent specs, the older architecture can be limiting. The 5060 and 9060XT will give you better performance and support better upscaling technology. I wouldn’t recommend the 3060 at this point.
Consider getting a 5600 combo with an older motherboard like a B450. This will let you put more budget towards the 9060XT 16GB, which is a much better investment overall!
Yep, going for that 9060XT 16GB is definitely a smart choice!
