I’m curious what everyone thinks about the difficulty of the Remaster compared to the original Oblivion. I’ve been playing as a Khajiit using the Acrobat class and intentionally avoiding the old “optimal leveling” techniques from back in the day. I’m currently level 11 and finding that I’m defeating most enemies effortlessly. I’m still in leather armor and using a steel bow for now, and it feels like everything is going down in just a few hits. I’m playing on the default difficulty and haven’t adjusted it at all. I remember the original version on the Xbox 360 felt tougher, even when I was at this level. Am I just misremembering, or is the remaster really that much easier?

It really depends on how you play. I maxed out my lockpicking by level 16, and now I’m level 27, and I struggle against groups of goblin warlords. So if you level up too quickly without investing in combat skills, you can still find yourself in a tough spot.
For sure! They tweaked how leveling works too, making it way less of a grind to level up your skills. This has definitely made the game feel a lot easier overall.
Yeah, it definitely feels easier. They’ve nerfed the health and damage of a lot of enemies quite a bit compared to the original. For example, Clannfear have their health cut down from 180 to 90! That makes a big difference when you’re out there battling them.
Exactly! I remember Clanfears being a real pain back then, but now they’re a total joke.
The leveling system is more forgiving now, but enemy scaling is still a factor. You can make the game as hard as you want by simply choosing to challenge yourself or using cheats.
They really went all out with the nerfs. It’s significantly easier now, and that kind of takes away from the experience for some players. But hey, if you’re just looking to have fun, it’s still a great time!
True, but I still think it misses some of that challenge from the original. Grinding wasn’t always great, but at least it kept the stakes high!
