I’m building a new PC and looking for a graphics card under $600. The RTX 4070 and higher are out of my budget. The RTX 4060 fits my price range, but the new Radeon RX 5060 Ti 16GB just launched for about $100 more, so I’m considering it instead. However, I’ve seen some negative reviews suggesting I should just aim for a 4070 or 4080, which I can’t afford. I mostly play VR and other graphically demanding games, so I want a card that performs well in those scenarios. Would the 5060 Ti 16GB be worth it, or should I look elsewhere? Any advice is appreciated!

Honestly, if you can swing getting the 5060 Ti 16GB for about $100 more than the 4060, the extra VRAM can help with tougher games and future-proofing, especially for VR stuff. But it’s true the raw performance might still fall behind the 4070 or 7900 series. If you can find a used or discounted RX 7900 XT or a similar model near your budget, that would be a more solid long-term choice performance-wise.
Everyone’s suggesting the RX 7900 series since it’s best value around $600, but those cards can be pretty scarce and might be above budget. The 5060 Ti 16GB is decent for the price, especially if VRAM is your priority, but the performance might still lag behind what you want for high-end VR and graphical gaming. If you can stretch your budget or hold out for a sale or used deal on a 7900 XT or something similar, it might be worth it for better performance and longevity.
If you’re locked into a $600 budget and want the best performance around that price, the RX 7900 (probably RX 7900 XT or similar newest AMD card) might be a better pick, if you can find it at that price. It’s generally faster and better suited for demanding games and VR than the 5060 Ti or 4060. The problem is these newer high-end cards can be tough to find at MSRP, especially or under $600, so availability is key.
