I’ve been contemplating whether to upgrade to the PS5 Pro since its release. A bit about me: I’m a racing game fan and have been enjoying my standard PS5 since early 2023, primarily playing titles like Gran Turismo 7 and Need for Speed: Unbound with a controller. Here are the reasons I’m considering the upgrade: I have the budget, ray tracing at 60FPS sounds awesome, the Pro claims to enhance PS4 games, and I’ve never owned a higher-end PlayStation before. On the flip side, I worry the upgrade isn’t worth the price, I might just wait for the PS6, and I’m unsure if I’ll really benefit from the Pro. I’d appreciate any thoughts or advice before I make my decision!

If you already have a PS5, you might not need the Pro. The differences aren’t huge, and it could feel like a waste of money. Just stick with what you have unless you’re really craving that upgrade.
One option could be to get the Pro and then trade it in for the PS6 later. I’ve enjoyed my Pro, but prices for consoles tend to rise, which is something to keep in mind as you decide.
I sold my PS5 to get the Pro. If you’re thinking about living life more fully through gaming, why wait for the PS6? The upgrade is enjoyable, and life is too short to miss out on fun!
I got my PS5 Pro at launch, and while I see improvements in game quality, I wish there were more updated games. Still, for many, the upgrade might be worth it if you’re into high-end gaming.
Honestly, from a financial standpoint, the Pro doesn’t seem worth the upgrade unless you’re absolutely set on having the best gaming experience. If money’s not an issue and you’re in for the long haul, then go for it. Just keep in mind, as the tech evolves, the improvements are getting smaller each generation.
That’s a fair point. Sometimes it feels like the hype doesn’t match the reality, but if it enhances the experience for you, that’s what counts.
