Hey everyone, I’ve recently been getting into PlayStation, but money is tight here since consoles cost more than the typical $500 due to currency differences. A friend offered to sell me his PS4 Pro with 1TB of storage and a free game of my choice. I’m considering it as a temporary gaming solution while I save up for a PS5. Do you think getting a PS4 Pro is worth it right now? Also, just an update: I’ve decided to go for the PS4 Pro because, as a student athlete, I won’t have much time to play, so I’d prefer not to spend too much money if I’m not using it all the time. Appreciate any advice!

The PS4 Pro has a massive library of awesome games that are way cheaper right now, and you can enjoy all that without spending too much. Plus, it still handles games magnificently, especially with some upgrades like an SSD! If it’s under $200, definitely grab it!
If you can get a good deal on the PS4 Pro, it’s a great interim choice until you can afford a PS5.
Just be wary—game support for PS4 is winding down because of the PS5. If you’re really strapped for money and can afford a used PS5 down the line, that might be a better path to take.
Got it! I’ll keep that in mind. Still working on saving!
Absolutely, but don’t rush it! It’s better to wait for the right deal.
Totally get where you’re coming from. A PS4 is great for story-driven games and still has an active online community. You’re not missing out too much if you stick with it while saving for the PS5. Just be sure to evaluate your current games and your budget. If you need something to keep you busy in the meantime, the PS4 is worth it.
Thanks for understanding! Saving for one while juggling everything isn’t easy.
Honestly, there’s nothing wrong with sticking to the PS4 Pro. I play daily on my PS4 Slim and have a great time. The graphics are still solid and there are tons of games available for it. Plus, second-hand games are very cheap these days. Go for it!
Totally agree! I remember when I was impressed with the graphics on my N64, and the PS4 feels like an upgrade on that. Plus, while the PS5 is better, it’s not necessary right now if you’re more casual about gaming.
Yeah, I think the PS4 will serve you well for a while! There’s a large library of fantastic games that you can dive into.
If you’re planning to eventually get a PS5, it might be smarter to save a little longer instead of rushing into a PS4 Pro. I bought a PS5 and haven’t touched my PS4 since then. But if you’re set on gaming now, the PS4 still has a lot to offer.
Exactly, I still have lots of fond memories with my PS4 too! They really had some great games.
It won’t stop me from getting a PS5; it’ll just slow down my saving a bit, you know?
I’m with you! I think the PS4’s variety outweighs the PS5’s limited exclusives right now.
