I’m replacing my old HTC Vive from 2018 and considering getting a Meta Quest 3. Can anyone share how much of an upgrade I should expect? I’m not looking for just technical specs; I want to know about the overall experience change as well.

While the 3S does offer a higher resolution, I still think the standard Quest 3 stands out thanks to its pancake optics and better features. If you’re serious about VR, spending a bit more for the Quest 3 is a good investment. But if you’re really cash-strapped and just want something decent, you could consider the 3S.
I hate to be the one saying it, but the Quest 3S isn’t really worth your time. It’s pretty much the Quest 2.1. If you’re aiming for a truly immersive VR experience, the Quest 3 is a far better option—better lenses, better graphics, and a smoother experience overall. If you’re on a budget, maybe look at getting a used Quest 2 instead, but the Quest 3 is the one to go for if you want something that lasts.
Honestly, if you’re thinking about getting the Quest 3S, I’d recommend going for the Quest 3 instead, even if it means waiting a bit longer. The leap in technology is worth it for long-term use. The Quest 3 has much better visuals and overall performance, making it a much brighter choice if you plan to stick with VR for a while. You’ll be much happier with it!
I just upgraded from the original Vive to the Quest 3 and it was totally worth it. The lens quality is significantly improved, making everything look sharper. Plus, it’s much less of a hassle to use than the Vive. I haven’t explored PCVR too much yet, but so far I’ve heard it works great with Virtual Desktop!
Exactly! The Quest 3 makes a massive difference for just a small bump in price. It’s so much more comfortable and visually stunning compared to the 3S.
