I’ve been considering whether to pick up the new Legacy Editions of The Sims 1 and 2 since I already own the Complete sets for both games and they run fine on Windows 10. I’ve heard that the new editions offer better compatibility and improved resolutions. But I’m curious if there’s any additional content or features that would make it worth the investment, or if this is just another money grab by EA.

Having played the new versions, I can say I noticed some new outfits in Create A Sim that felt different from what I remember from my childhood. The game now adjusts to your screen’s resolution, which is nice if you have an ultrawide monitor. Plus, they updated the credits with a “The Sims Legacy Team” mention, but overall, I haven’t seen any major additions.
As far as content goes, there really aren’t any major changes in the Legacy Editions. If you already own the Complete sets, sticking with them is probably best.
Also, if you’re a fan of Ikea stuff, you should know that it’s not included in the new packs either. Your Complete Edition has more built-in content, so there’s not much reason to switch unless you’re craving a more polished performance.
If your current version runs fine, honestly, I wouldn’t bother with the Legacy Edition right now. It seems like it’s more aimed at getting new players interested than offering something new to existing fans.
I’ve seen some chatter about potential bug fixes coming with the Legacy Editions. It seems like they might focus on making the games run well on newer devices, but it’s unclear if they’ll address all the bugs from the Complete Editions too.
That’s interesting! I was hoping for more substantial updates but sounds like it’s mainly cosmetic.
