The recent update for No Man’s Sky has got me super excited, especially with the cool new lighting effects. I’m planning to jump back in after being away for a while. However, I haven’t tried playing it on the Steam Deck yet. Before the update, I know the performance was pretty solid at around 40-60 FPS. Since the game runs on the Switch, I’m hoping it handles well on the Deck too. Has anyone noticed any changes in performance, or any dips in FPS since this update dropped? Thanks a million for your insights!

Seems like a mixed bag! My Steam Deck crashes near water, which a few others have reported, but otherwise it plays nicely and looks better than before. I prefer playing with settings on high, and it’s pretty stable as long as I steer clear of the oceans.
I’ve noticed quite a drop since the update. Was running smoothly around 56-60 FPS on my Steam Deck at default settings, but now I’m seeing it jump between 26 to 40 FPS. Really hoping they’ll patch it soon! If you’re considering streaming to the Deck instead, that might be a good workaround until a fix comes along.
On my end, I’ve got it running at a solid 45 FPS on medium settings. The update actually smoothed out the hitching when flying into planets and boosted load times. I’m playing it through the GoG version using the Heroic launcher, if that info helps anyone.
So, while some folks have faced issues, I’ve actually had a blast playing it! Didn’t follow the FPS counter religiously, but it felt pretty much the same as before when I watched videos. All in all, worth trying out!
