Is the Emperor Really That Dumb?

-

I’ve been diving into Warhammer lore recently, mainly through YouTube videos, and it’s got me questioning the Emperor’s intelligence. Some people seem to think he didn’t actually create the Primarchs but that they came from some ancient civilization back in the Dark Technology era. I’m curious about a few points: Why did he only start making the Primarchs after unifying Terra? Why did the Primarchs disappear in the first place? If I were in his shoes, I’d be scrambling to find them instead of just moving on with weaker Space Marines. And how come the new generations of Space Marines aren’t better than the originals? Seriously, with all that time he’s had, how has he not learned or adapted? It feels like he just sits back and watches things go awry instead of taking charge. So, what do you think? Is the Emperor actually foolish?

Honestly, you should definitely check out the books instead of just relying on YouTube. The lore is way more detailed, and a lot of what you’re questioning actually has solid explanations in the texts. The Emperor did create the Primarchs, and he orchestrated their origins with purpose, amidst a whole galaxy of chaos. So yeah, saying he’s dumb really misses the mark.

Absolutely, the lore dives into a lot of intricacies that videos often gloss over. It really enriches your understanding of the Emperor’s intentions.

For real! Plus, the lore depicts the Emperor as a strategic genius, even if he sometimes makes questionable choices.

I mean, to answer your question: the Emperor isn’t stupid at all. He’s brilliant in many ways but can be so focused on his grand vision that he overlooks personal connections with his sons, the Primarchs. If he had taken the time to nurture those relationships, a lot of the chaos that followed might have been avoided. It’s more about him having a massive hubris rather than lacking intelligence.

Warmonger77 -

Nurturing those relationships is key! It’s like he lost sight of the human aspect. A little empathy could have gone a long way.

EternalWarrior88 -

Exactly, he was dealing with a bunch of powerful beings who needed guidance, but he often treated them as tools instead.

ChaosFan99 -

Nah, the Emperor’s not stupid—he’s just misguided sometimes. He made tough choices for what he saw as the greater good, even if it backfired spectacularly. Plus, the lore is complex and not always cut and dry. He had to juggle a galaxy full of threats, which is no easy feat!

SonsOfHorusHero -

Right? It’s crazy to judge him without considering the bigger picture about the galaxy he’s living in.

Fair point! A lot of characters in 40k aren’t black and white; everyone’s just trying to survive in this brutal universe.
