Hey everyone! I’m a newbie to the Elder Scrolls series and noticed The Elder Scrolls Online Standard Edition is on sale for just $2 on Steam. I’m curious if I need to purchase extra content or crowns to actually enjoy the game. Can I play just fine with the base edition? Also, I only have a Mac to play on, so I’m wondering if that’s a good fit. Is this game worth getting for someone who usually plays titles like Resident Evil, Baldur’s Gate 3, and Outlast? Oh, and is there any pay-to-win aspect to it? Thanks for your insights!

You get a lot of content! If you play around 3 hours a day, you could easily immerse yourself for months. For a beginner, the base game offers plenty to keep you engaged without spending more right away.
If you just want to dip your toes, the Standard Edition has a solid amount of content. You can enjoy the storyline without extra purchases, but if you find yourself getting hooked, you might consider expansions later. Also, I’ve heard it’s playable on Mac, and you can always refund it if it doesn’t work out for you!
So true! Just keep an eye on the content you’re missing; it could make you feel like you’re missing out if you want to dive deeper into the game.
Definitely worth $2! The base game has a rich story, and you can upgrade later if you want more. There’s no pay-to-win nonsense in ESO either; the Crown Store mostly offers cosmetics and convenience items.
Absolutely worth it! There’s so much to explore in the base game that even at $2, it’s a steal. Don’t miss out on this deal!
For such a low entry cost, it’s a great experiment. Just keep in mind that some expansions can enhance your experience, but you won’t feel pressured to spend extra right away.
Yeah, and just to add, Steam has a refund policy where you can get your money back if you play for less than 2 hours, so no real risk here.
