I’ve had it with stick drift on my PS5 DualSense controller. The original controller that came with my console started showing left-stick drift after about two years, and I’ve been through a few controllers since then, including a limited edition one I got as a gift. With my partner getting into gaming and us switching off a lot, I just saw the controller develop stick drift again while playing The Last of Us Part 2: Remastered. At this point, I’m considering if the DualSense Edge, which costs $199, is worth it. I’m tired of paying $80 for a new controller, especially since I’ve kept them in perfect shape and had no issues with my PS4 controllers. Would it be better to invest in the Edge and replace the stick modules when they go bad?

I’ve had a lot of trouble with my controllers too. The only downside I see with the DualSense Edge is its battery life. It’s a solid controller, but if you game for more than 3 hours straight, you might want to be cautious unless you don’t mind playing while it’s plugged in.
If you’re handy with soldering, you might look into replacing the original resistive pots with magnetic ones to eliminate stick drift for good. Alternatively, you could find a service to do the modifications for you.
I’m with you on the battery issue. I usually game for around 4-5 hours and have to charge my controller at least once during that time. I’ve gotten into the habit of playing with it plugged in, which isn’t ideal but it helps with latency.
