Hey everyone! I’m really considering picking up KCD2, but I’m not completely sold on the combat system. I’ve seen some gameplay, and it looks pretty engaging and tough, which I like since I hate the combat in games like The Witcher 3. But I’ve also heard a lot of mixed opinions about it. Can fans share their honest thoughts on the combat? I want to make sure I’m making the right decision before buying!

Honestly, the combat takes a bit of getting used to. I found it secondary to the story myself—after about 90 hours, I got the hang of it without needing any mods to give me extra time to react. I actually ended up enjoying the combat as a side benefit to the storytelling.
To be real, the combat can feel a bit basic. The early levels can be tough, but once you hit around level 12-14, it gets way easier. So it might not be as challenging as you think after a while.
I think the combat is great! Just a heads up, it can be punishing if you dive in without any training. But when you put in the effort to learn both your character and the mechanics, it really enhances the storytelling, as it’s not just about fighting but about progressing through the narrative.
It’s definitely an acquired taste! I struggled during the tutorial mission at first but once I figured out the mechanics, it got much easier. I’ve now started a 3rd playthrough on Hardcore mode and even without the GUI prompts, I managed to win the tutorial fight without taking a hit. The challenge is what makes it fun!
If you like weighty and strategic combat, you’ll probably enjoy it. Some folks say it becomes too easy after a while, but recent updates have improved that. I’m currently playing on Hardcore mode and selected a perk to make enemies stronger—it’s a solid challenge, and I’m enjoying it!
Yeah, same here! It took me a while to learn, but it feels super rewarding once you get it down.
