I’m currently upgrading my setup from an Intel Core i5-9400F and an NVIDIA GeForce 1660. I’m considering pairing a Sapphire PULSE Radeon RX 9070 XT with an AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D. Do you think this combination is worthwhile, or should I opt for the Ryzen 7 7800X3D instead? I’m really hoping for a significant performance boost over the 1660! Here’s the rest of my build: Deepcool MYSTIQUE 360 Liquid CPU Cooler, MSI PRO B650-S WIFI Motherboard, TEAMGROUP T-Force Delta RGB 32 GB DDR5-6000 Memory, a 2TB SSD, and a Lian Li O11 Vision case. Also, my power supply is a modular MSI MAG A750GL 750W.

Both options are solid, but if your budget allows, the 9800X3D is the way to go. You’ll probably regret not going for the better CPU later on. Plus, it sets you up for an easier GPU upgrade down the line!
It really depends on your gaming resolution and price differences. At 4K, the 9800X3D isn’t much better than the 7800X3D. At 1440p, it offers about a 5-10% advantage, but at 1080p, it pulls ahead by a decent margin. If your budget is tight, I suggest investing in a better GPU if you’re gaming at higher resolutions.
I just upgraded to the 9800X3D myself after using a 7900X. I noticed at least a 10% FPS boost, and sometimes up to 30% in certain games! Definitely worth it if you’re looking for performance.
I’m mostly gaming at 1440p.
