I went through the latest update blog but didn’t spot any mention of changes to the UI frame rate on consoles. Unfortunately, I couldn’t watch the stream for details. Does anyone know if the UI is still locked at 30fps? The sudden drop from 60fps to 30fps when menus pop up really messes with me and makes me feel dizzy. Also, I don’t get why these energy-saving settings aren’t just enabled by default rather than optional.

From what I’ve seen, the 30fps cap on console UIs is still around. However, there’s a PS5 Pro update in the patch which might change things on that platform, but nothing confirmed about removing the cap completely.
It does seem like the UI is still locked at 30fps on consoles, but from my experience, they’ve smoothed out the transition from 60 to 30, so it’s less headache-inducing than when they first rolled out the change.
Thanks for the heads up! I double-checked on my PS5 with a 120hz TV, and unfortunately, the stutter is still pretty rough for me. Glad it’s better for you though.
Yeah I remember it being 60fps originally on next-gen consoles, but they dropped it to 30fps to save energy, which makes sense but it’s odd they made 60fps an option instead of defaulting to 30. Makes the transition jarring. I even checked some official sustainability docs and community feedback—they’ve clearly aimed for energy efficiency here.
