Hey everyone! I’m considering making the switch from my Windows gaming laptop to Ubuntu, but I have a few lingering questions that I can’t seem to find answers to. One of my favorite setups on Windows involves using Blurbusters’ recommended settings, which include G-Sync, Reflex, and specific Nvidia Control Panel V-Sync adjustments. These features help me reduce input lag and create a smoother gaming experience. I’m particularly keen to know if Ubuntu supports similar functionalities. If I can’t get the same level of performance, I might have to rethink this move. Thanks for any insights!

Honestly, I found Ubuntu and its derivatives to be a bit challenging for gaming. If you’re looking for alternatives, I’d suggest checking out CachyOS instead. It might offer a better experience for what you’re after.
You can definitely cap FPS on Ubuntu using tools like MangoHUD with Goverlay or Mangojuice, which makes it pretty straightforward. For adaptive sync, G-Sync and FreeSync support is available, especially if you’re using KDE; it works really well for me on my secondary monitor.
I get where you’re coming from with Ubuntu; it was my go-to for the ease of driver setup too. But I’ve run into graphical issues with Nobara on Gnome, and I’ve heard good things about other distros like Bazzite and Endeavour being worth a try.
