Hey everyone! So I’m diving back into Final Fantasy XV after a while and I just realized that ‘Stand By Me’ plays during the intro. I find it a bit odd to hear a mainstream song in a game like this. Is this the first time an English artist made a track for a Final Fantasy game? Also, with ‘Stand By Me’ being featured, does that mean it’s part of the game’s music history? Just trying to wrap my head around it, so let me know if I’m being confusing!

The cover does fit well with the game, and while it’s technically a cover, the arrangement was made specifically for FF15. It’s classy and really adds depth to the intro experience! And you’re right, just because it’s a cover doesn’t take away from how great it is.
Honestly, the bigger question is whether the movie tape exists in the FF multiverse! Maybe there’s an alternate timeline where Stand By Me plays a bigger role! Just a thought!
Looking back, it’s interesting how FF has included tracks from various artists. Faye Wong’s ‘Eyes on Me’ for FFVIII paved the way for this trend. Just remember, it’s become a tradition for the series to feature these songs!
Yep, the version in Final Fantasy is definitely a cover by Florence & The Machine, and it’s beautifully done because it includes the Prelude theme! Honestly, it hit me in the feels during the credits. As for English artists, FF14 has had songs from artists like Chrissy Costanza, and Sia has a cover too. So this isn’t the first time, but it’s definitely impactful!
Totally! And let’s not forget the orchestral tracks from other games too, they always bring the emotion.
FF13 had the song ‘My Hands’ by Leona Lewis, but it was different in Japan, so that’s something else to consider! It’s not the first but definitely memorable in the series!
Agreed! I cried too! The lyrics just hit differently when you’re finishing the game.
