I know I might be a bit late to the party, but I truly believe that Skyward Sword gets way too much hate. This game really changed my perspective on gaming as a whole! Sure, the areas below the clouds are small, but they feel expansive to explore. Some folks complain about the backtracking, and while I get that point, I think each return to an area unveils new adventures and discoveries. Everyone seems to bash the motion controls, but I honestly found them fine. To me, Skyward Sword deserves a spot among the top five Zelda games, and it’s really underappreciated. What do you all think about this gem?

I think the game gets slammed mostly due to the motion controls. With the HD release, the controls became much more precise, which definitely helped. I did find some of the backtracking a bit excessive, though. I understand that a lot of people want freedom and exploration, but I’d prefer a more linear experience that’s fun—much better than some of the bland open world from other games!
Totally agree! A lot of the hate came from the original release having some hardware issues. I actually loved the Wii’s MotionPlus. Even though I had to change batteries every 30 minutes, the novelty never faded for me. I did try Skyward Sword HD, and while the stick controls are nice, I found that the challenge was part of the fun. It felt kind of easy and boring afterward, honestly.
I felt the same way! I had a rough start because those motion controls were tough, especially if you play lying down. I ended up switching to a pro controller and then I really got into it, pouring about 81 hours into the game afterwards. Funny how a controller can change your experience!
