Hey everyone! I’ve racked up 230 hours in Oblivion Remastered, but I recently found out that the PS5 counts time in Rest mode as in-game time. The game has been out for about 360 hours, which is pretty amusing when you think about it. I’m starting to wonder if this could cause any serious issues, like corrupting my save files due to game time overflow. Have any of you experienced this before, or do you think I should be closing the game before putting my console in Rest mode?

Remember, Rest mode just suspends the game. It sounds weird that it counts the hours like that unless you leave the console on all the time. But if your save says 231 hours, it could be tallying up while it’s supposed to be sleeping—definitely close the game manually once you’re done playing!
I noticed something similar! I left Oblivion running and came back to 30 hours of gameplay logged, even though I only played for about 13. Apparently not closing the game means it keeps running in the background, which can’t be good! So now I always make sure to properly quit out of the game before shutting down or putting my console to sleep.
Haha, classic Bethesda move! I’ve had the same thing happen. It’s crazy how time adds up. I’m with you on worrying about save corruption with all this weirdness.
I’ve got around 200 hours in Oblivion, and I rarely use Rest mode. I’ve heard that it can really mess up consoles — I’ve seen it happen! If you’re using Oblivion just to AFK level some skills, make sure you’re monitoring your saves. I’ve turned off auto-sync on my PS5 for months, and thankfully haven’t had any corrupted saves since. I think the issue might stem from how the PS5 handles cloud saves, especially with games like Oblivion. Just play it safe and close the game before putting the console to sleep!
Yikes, that sounds scary! I’ve never turned mine off either, haha. Better keep an eye on it before I end up needing a new console.
I’ve been using Rest mode on my PS4 Pro and now my PS5 without issues, but I guess everyone’s got different experiences.
That’s exactly my point! My playtime skyrocketed from 133 to 231 hours seemingly out of nowhere. I’ve gotta start closing it out before putting it in Rest mode for sure.
