Hey everyone, I’ve been thinking about whether recalibrating my account is a smart move. I was sitting at Divine 2, but after a rough weekend and some tilted plays throughout the week, I’ve dropped down to Ancient 4 (but realistically closer to Ancient 3). I primarily play mid lane, but I’ve been trying my hand at offline and pos4 too. Given all that, do you think recalibrating is worth it?

Honestly, I’d steer clear of recalibrating. When you reset, your first few games can swing your MMR by ±100 points. If you hit a spell of bad luck and lose those initial games, you could end up tanking your rank even further. I recalibrated from Immortal to Divine 1 after a losing streak caused by griefers, and it took me ages to climb back up, plus the matches were pretty unenjoyable since I was stuck carrying lower-skilled players. If you’ve just dropped a bit, maybe focus on locking in and getting on a winning streak instead—you’ll bounce back in no time!
I think recalibrating is super risky, at least from my experience. I was Archon 2, and half the time I’d end up in games with mixed ranks or dealing with griefers. After a rough start in my calibration games full of toxic players, I got pushed down to Guardian 1. It took a lot of effort to get back to Crusader—definitely not fun. My friend tried recalibrating and he hit Archon 1, but honestly, that felt more like luck. If you don’t mind the gamble and think you’re better than your current rank, then maybe go for it, but it’s high risk, low reward for sure.
That sounds rough! I’d be really hesitant to recalibrate after that experience.
In my experience, recalibration usually lands you a bit below your last peak MMR. The first time I calibrated was back in 2014, and I started off higher but only ended up slipping. Every reset since then, I’ve always found myself one or two stars below my usual rank. It’s kind of a mixed bag, but your MMR really reflects your current skill, so that might be worth considering before you jump into recalibrating.
Totally agree! Just keep pushing through your games and you’ll regain your spot.
